Mild-Matte A16 is a low-temperature matting agent specially designed for polyester/TGIC powder coating systems.

This matting agent is used with conventional outdoor polyester cuing at low-temperature. Specific features include:

  • Matting performance: Lowest gloss of 16GU @60° (Dosage: 6.0% in total)
  • Curing schedule: Cured at 160℃/15-20min with general-purpose outdoor polyester
  • Powdering process: pre-mix, extrude and ground with other raw materials; no dry
    blending requirement.
  • Surface quality: the surface is delicate and smoother than that of dry blending method.
  • An excess of TGIC must be used, the ratio of matting agent to TGIC is about 8:1
  • Mechanical properties: Impact strength can pass reverse 50 Kg*cm
  • Color stability: excellent yellowing resistance after baking.
  • Matting stability: stable gloss, insensitive to extrusion process, good reproducibility.
  • Other : Slow-curing polyester recommended. The curing temperature needs to be guaranteed in order to obtain good mechanical properties and matting
    properties.

Recommended powder coating formula based on Mild-Matte A16:

  • Above formulas were illustrated only for reference. Please do trial first before batch
    order.
  • Please adjust the content of pigment and filler according to the actual situation.
Organic pigments may speed up the reactions and lead to increased gloss.
  • Slow curing polyesters are recommended, such as: DSM P4900, 4600, Anhui Shenjian 4#ET, 4868, Tiansong 2701, KHUA GH-2205, GH-2201; Maple FL-2011, FL-2016, FL-2006, Guangzhou Kinte NH-3307, NH-3309, NH-3308, Sino-French 9339, etc. Other not listed polyesters do not mean that the matting effect is not good
  • Avoid accelerators or catalytic pigments/fillers; they typically raise gloss and may impair leveling

Typical Properties:

  • Appearance:White or light yellow powder
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs):<1%( wt.% ) Thermal Gravimetric Analysis at (160℃/20min)
  • Softening point, RING AND BALL : 100-130°C

Application:

  • Pre-mix and Co-extrusion [One-Shot Method]

Storage:

  • Shelf life: at least 12 months @27°C, keep dry Expired products can be used after passing inspection.
